Dont look now, but. . . . . . . .
We've been so preoccupied with the presidential race and RAThergate that we haven't noticed the speeding truck coming up on us in our rear view mirror. That's right. . the California Ballot Initiatives. What do we have, something like 2,347 of them?
It's really pretty easy to decide whether you support tribe A's position or tribe B's. Find out the positions on the initiatives taken both by Aaaaanold and by Boxer. Then do what the Governator says. But what to do if they agree on any of them?
I start the debate by throwing out stem cell research. It is a hot button topic upon which reasonable minds may disagree. . but. . the devil is in the details. It's not just a matter of supporting it in theory. . there is a gazillion dollar bond issue attached to it. I think a state should be building highways and patroling them and stately stuff like that, but I don't see that we should be in the biotech biz!

Initiatives schmitiatives...they need a hole you can punch that says, I vote "no" for everything else on this ballot that has the word "funding" in it.
