In Blank We Trust

Since when did:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. . . . "
Become this:
"All people present in the United States of America are endowed by their creator with the inalienable right to be free from any mention of religion (especially Christianity) whatsover in any public place."

Now that the ACLU has been successful in changing the seal of the County of LA (a church is ok as long as it doesn't hae a cross), The Anti Defamation League has been successful in forcing officials at the Riverside California Courthouse to cover up a 70 year old engraving on a mahogany wall in Department 8 that contains the following quote by Teddy Roosevelt: "The true Christian is the true citizen."

In other news, all oaths given to witnesses will conclude with the languange ". . so help me Streisand".

It's a world gone mad when our Constitution bans God yet allows Yentl.

The ACLU is not trying to prevent INDIVIDUALS from expressing religious beliefs -- it is trying to prevent the GOVERNMENT from expressing religion, why do so many people have a problem differentiating here? You quoted the First Amendment in your statement there! "Congress shall make no law RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION". This means that in the United States of America, the government should not be involved in endorsing religion. Having an obvious religious symbol in a County Seal definitely counts as the government endorsing one particular religion, as is the Teddy Roosevelt's incredibly discriminatory statement (would you feel the same if the engraving said "The true white male is the true citizen"?). Removing these and secularizing GOVERNMENT in no way harms your right to go out in public and evangelize whatever religious or political views you want. Please also note that a secular government is not an atheist government -- secular simply means entirely neutral. This is the only way that our nation can ever possibly be free and fair, and it is very clearly the way our founding fathers intended this nation to be run.
