Shelter From The Storm Concert

I enjoyed most of the benefit concert last night that was on all the networks. But I have a few thoughts:

Whose Idea was it to have some out of focus shots from above stage left with a red bulb taking 1/2 of the picture?
Brings to mind the Cosell quote that the late great Jim Healy used to play:
"Who goofed, I've got to know".

Hey, Bono, cool to make that a duet, but next time pick someone who can sing the words so I don't need to put on close captioning.

Paul Simon. . we think we have located your voice.
But I did like the Dixieland band at the end. I told the Stewwife that when I die I want one of those New Orleans funerals with the band behind me. I didn't take it as a good sign when she started making calls immediately to arrange it.

Chris Rock. . you ceased being funny sometime around 1999. Your stupid Bush joke fell flat and this was not an occasion for politics. . period.

Nice job, Cheryl Crow. . You aren't a total bicycle groopie weak song singer.

I could do with less screeching gospel music.

Rod Stewart. . you've still got it.

Hey, Kanay or however you prounounce your name,. . . very nice production number. . .but lose the "IF I speak the truth they won't play you" martyr line. Please show me the PROOF that George Bush doesn't care about black people before you embarass Mike Myers next time.

Perfect start with Randy Newman. . Great song.

Where was Tom Petty to play Louisiana Rain, Arlo Guthrie to play City of New Orleans, and, to finish the Shelter From The Storm Concert, Bob Dylan should have been there to play that number from Blood on the Tracks.
