KM, teach your kids a lot of math. Maybe they can avoid some of the PC sludge that way. At least, I'm hoping that schools like Cal Tech and MIT are more interested in "e to the x, dy/dx; e to the x, dx; cosine, secant, tangent, sine; three point one four one five nine" than in choosing one's pronoun.
The schools here have Pi Day contests on March 14 (3.14). You've got to know more than 200 digits of Pi to have a chance of winning one of the donated pie prizes. I have enough trouble remembering my home phone number.
I take some comfort in the knowledge that only a truly affluent, successful, and humane culture could have created the sorts of idiots who are quoted in that article. At least, that's what I keep telling myself...
