Well...there you go again
John Kerry's campaign must have done some internal polling and found that his Howard Dean, anti-war rejuvenation tactic wasn't resonating with the voters so today he flop-flipped (tired of "flip-flopped" aren't you?) and started to talk tough on the war against terror.
Here's a quick excerpt to give you the gist of his latest new message:
"As president, I will fight a tougher, smarter, more effective war on terror. My priority will be to find and capture or kill the terrorists before they get us — and I will never take my eye off the ball."
Giving a nod to Stewdog, fellow contributor to this blog, I think it's time we affectionately label this tougher John Kerry with the title, "Jenjis John". I mean, "kill the terrorists"?? He sounds like he's even willing to..."cut off ears, cut off heads, tape wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turn up the power, cut off limbs, blow up bodies, randomly shoot at civilians, raze villages in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis (Jenjis) Khan...". By the way, if you're like me, that audio occasionally plays in your head at any given moment throughout the day, and, I must say, it has a rather placid and soothing tonal quality to it, does it not? So much so, that I think I may begin to use it as my mantra during meditation...raaaaze villajjes in a fassshionnn rrreminissscent of sssjjjjenjis kaaaaahn...oammmm...oammmm...sssjjjjjenjis kaaahn...oammmmm...Sorry, where was I?
You go, Jenjis John! Yep. You're one tough wind-surfing, effete New England hombre!
But wait a minute, now. I just remembered something old Jenjis John said to the "UNITY 2004" Conference a few weeks back on August 5th:
"I believe I can fight a more effective, more thoughtful, more strategic, more proactive, more sensitive war on terror that reaches out to other nations and brings them to our side and lives up to American values in history."
Sigh...Where have you gone Jenjis John? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you...wooo woo wooo. What's that you say, Mr. Sensitive? Jenjis John has left and gone awaaaaay....
Aside from all the silliness and posturing by Kerry today in attempting to suddenly sound tough on the war against terror, here's the key quote that defies belief. Here's the one that goes under the "did he just say what I think he said?" file:
"I begin with this belief: The war on terror is as monumental a struggle as the Cold War."
Does he think he's talking to a bunch of Moveon.org lap dogs here? Does he forget there are people listening to him who can remind him and the American people that he opposed all the key policies Reagan implemented to win victory in the Cold War? -- From promoting a nuclear freeze, to scuttling the SDI program to opposing the conventional weapons buildup by voting to cancel the B-1 bomber, B-2 stealth bomber, AH-64 Apache helicopter, Patriot missile, the F-15, F-14A and F-14D jets, the AV-8B Harrier jet, the Aegis air-defense cruiser, and the Trident missile system?? If Kerry had been president during the Cold War, we would have lost out in the gold-medal count this past summer to a team called the USSR.
Kerry is right that this struggle is as monumental as the Cold War...And for our children's sake, that is precisely why we can't let him win.
