No joy in Soxville for Kerry

As jubilant Red Sox fans dance in the streets of Beantown today over their victory in the Bronx, their senator John Kerry is forced to distance himself from what could have been a nice feel good bounce for his campaign. Instead, Kerry, who has blundered at least three Red Sox comments during the campaign, must keep clear of the Red Sox pandemonium.

Here are Kerry's beauts regarding the Red Sox this campaign via NewsMax.com:

"We've been waiting since 1918 for the Boston Red Sox to win the World Series, and ... if I had a choice between the White House and the World Series this year, I'm going to take the White House. How's that?"

Kerry told a radio interviewer that his favorite Red Sox player was Eddie Yost. Eddie Yost never played for the Sox.

Kerry once praised 'Manny Ortez' of the Red Sox. There's no Manny Ortez in the Sox lineup or indeed, any other MLB roster. Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz play for the Red Sox.

When Kerry threw the first pitch at a Red Sox-Yankees game, he did not throw from the pitcher's mound yet still bounced the ball before it reached home plate. He then blamed his namby-pamby throw on the catcher, a National Guard soldier and Iraq war veteran: 'I held back,' Kerry told reporters. 'He was very nervous. I tried to lob it gently.

And let's not forget the way he ticked off Wisconsinites earlier this year by referring to the hallowed tundra of Lambeau field as "Lambert Field".

What a putz.
