Friday Follies
Here I am, once again, reading the L.A. Times, so you don't have to do it.
First up, a lovely piece by Perfesser Mark Anthony Neal (no relation to Cleopatra Neal) "Michael Jackson's Hidden Accuser:Racism". Um. . sorry. . not buying it today. Racism and Sexism will not be the issue in Michael's case, since he pretty much gave up being black or a man a long time ago. No. . if he is convicted "unjustly", you can simply chalk it up to "weirdism", that sickness in our society that causes us to be repulsed by the repulsive.
And speaking of repulsive, there are 2000 press standing by in Santa Maria to report on weather Michael will be going back home to his gated, guarded community, or whether he will be invited to close escrow on another sort of gated community.
Then we move on to a nice story of Howard Dean being taken to the woodshed by fellow Democrats for his incendary remarks. My favorite is his comment that the automaton Republicans are simply a "white Christian party". Let's see. . . It is true 82% of Republicans fit that description, as do 57% of Democrats. So. . what you really mean, Mr. Yeaaaaaaahhhh, is that the Republicans are a "Whiter, More Christian" party than the Democrats.
In more interesting news, Rumpus is saddended by the death of the fantastic sports photographer, Hy Peskin. Take a minute to look at these beautiful photographs. You don't need to be a sports fan to appreciate his work.

Those photos are amazing, Stewdog. That Carmen Basilio picture looks like something that Martin Scorsese would have to take hours to create with posed actors and artificial lighting. All of those pictures are truly works of art.
