Raining On The Parade

The baseball playoffs have been fantastic. So on the heels of the Cardinals historic comeback, with game 6 tonight, what does the LA Times do? Publishes this inane op-ed piece by some psychology perfesser at the Univeristy of Washingon Seattle, which rips sports fandom. The World Series is "less than nothing". The athletes are "muscular semi morons". The good perfesser suggests that instead of rooting for our teams (spectator sports being the opiate of the masses) that we read a book, talk with our family, go for a walk, wrestle with the dog, listen to music, or make love. Hey, Mr. Pinhead Ivory Tower. . . maybe we DO all of those things already, while we are listening to the game.
