Play Ball
How about a salute to the new Baseball Season. Wonderdog and Kate Marie's group is big on the Angels. Sometime Contributor Tim D and Stewdog are Cardinals all the way. How about CIV. . venturing over to see the Nationals this year?
I'm stoked. . Play ball!

Rumpus, I'm the only one in my household who likes baseball. They wouldn't tolerate listening to it, much less going to a game.
I tried in vain to interest the rugrat in Little League t-ball. Sitting in the bleachers, working the refreshment stand, envying the lush green grass -- it was heaven for a few short weeks. "Boring," was the verdict. Instead I was forced to watch 6 years of soccer. Fall and spring. Ugh.
I no longer follow the game, but perhaps will take it up again when the young 'un goes off to college in '09. But will I ever be able to make the switch from the Os to the Nats? Well, let's see if the District can get its act together and build a stadium. I don't want to get my heart broken.
I guess I understand why kids want to play soccer; it's probably fun to play. But *watching* soccer is another matter entirely. :)
Baseball is the greatest game ever. As a kid, I probably preferred football, and probably because I could *play* football (and basketball, which I never preferred) better than I could play baseball. Nowadays, though, I think baseball is the perfect sport.
I always thought one of the great signs of Spring in Southern California was being stuck in a traffic jam on the Santa Monica Freeway, and hearing the voice of Vin Scully wafting through rolled-down car windows (alas, most Angelenos were Dodger fans in those days, though we were always an Angels family).
Dang it. Every time I see this post, I start thinking baseball fever.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
It's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!
Put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be Centerfield.
Before the Rams left, football was the love of my life and baseball was my best friend. Now...I've married my best friend and the love of my life left me for another.
Of course, setting sports metaphors aside, in reality I just happened to marry the love of my life and my best friend. :)
The greatest sport in the world...no other way to put it...I'll just quote the great William Bendix from "The Babe Ruth Story"...when a guy says to him.." They can't do that to you Babe, you ought'a sue Baseball!"...his reply?.. "Sue baseball?...naww...that would be like suing the church"..
Play Ball!
