Flags of our fathers
To get that flag up there, America’s fighting men had to die on that island and on other islands and off the shores and in the air . . . What difference does it make who took the picture? I took it, but the Marines took Iwo Jima.

you know what makes that photo even more great?....this was taken at a time when there were no automatic shudders...or whatever they are called that allow a photographer to press down on the shudder and it continues to take pictures in rapid fire until released. you then just go through the 20 or so shots to find the best one... Not here...he snapped it at EXACTLY the right moment. If you have ever seen the film of this ...you will appreciate his keep eye and reflex even more...He was an artist.
I of course meant shuTTER...sorry!
