Hillary, Al, Romeo, Juliet

If you've yet to see the infamous "Hillary 1984" ad, here it is. My thoughts? I think it would behoove the Republican candidate for president to hire the guy who made it.

Not to be "bragee-o-cious" (as Don King would say), but maybe someone should hire me. I laid out this "old regime Hillary" strategy way back in July 2005. Gimme a call, Rudy.

Here are some nice photos from a Portland anti-war "peace" rally. I get it now. These people want our troops sent home so they can burn them at the stake. I'm only half-kidding. But more realistically, the people who are chanting "bring our troops home" are the same people who will spit on them when they set up a recruiting booth on their college campus.

Hey! I just turned off my tv and reduced carbon dioxide emissions! I'm just like a mofoing bad-ass Spartan warrior! (striking majestic pose)

But wait...Al appears to have dropped shield and run for the hills. It seems his household uses *20 times* the electrical output of the average American home.

Nice piece of acting there, Al. That Oscar is certainly well-deserved.

And, to end in non sequitur fashion, here's a Killers cover of a Dire Straits song that I happen to like.

Peace.

Tonight, we earn carbon credits in hell!!

Who are The Killers, by the way? That was a nice cover -- I think I may have preferred that guy's vocals but Mark Knophler's guitar.

The Killers are an rock/alternative band, with such classic songs as 'Smile Like You Mean It', 'Mr. Brightside', and my personal favorite "Somebody Told Me". How can you not like such a catchy little ditty with the following lyrics?
"Well somebody told me
You had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year"

Ms. Kate Marie, they really sound nothing like the song in the original post here, at least in my opinion. Though they are popular among the younger crowd and I hear this type of music day in and day out until I can actually sing along to it, I shall stick to my favorites from decades ago, which I do believe are now being played on the "oldies" station.

I hear ya, Ms. Lisa. My interest in the current pop music scene is close to nil. It's remarkable how quickly I became an old fogey about popular music and how little I *care* about being an old fogey.

In any event, you're hipper than I am, since you knew who The Killers were. I thought the Killer was Jerry Lee Lewis (I have enough vanity to point out, though, that he's more from my parents' era than mine).

C'mon, Lisa. There's a lot worse out there than The Killers. At least you can understand the lyrics and discern some type of melody.

I actually heard a Billy Idol song on an oldies station the other day. Yeesh.

I actually found a younger artist whom I like. K T Tunstall. She did the opening number from Devil Wears Prada, Suddenly I See. Very catchy tune. Voice a little like Bonnie Raitt with a younger edge.

I would agree with you, Mr. WDog, that there is a whole lot worse out there than The Killers.

I actually have "Somebody Told Me" on my mp3 player. Along with "My Immortal" by Evanescence, "Another White Dash" by Flutterby, "Big White Horse and a Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall and "The Reason" by Hoobastank. I think that concludes my list of up-to-date music. :) I don't dislike much of anything, but I do favor certain songs, regardless of the genre. I have also grown adept at tuning out music that does nothing for me.

And yes, folks like Billy Idol are the exact ones that I would be referring to now on the 'oldies' station.
