Monday Morning Report
Polipundit takes a look at Zogby's latest polls. Here's a breakdown.
Wisconsin: Bush 48%, Kerry 45%
Pennsylvania: Kerry 47%, Bush 45%
Ohio: Bush 47%, Kerry 42%
Nevada: Bush 48%, Kerry 44%
New Mexico: Bush 49%, Kerry 44%
Minnesota: Bush 45%, Kerry 46%
Michigan: Kerry 52%, Bush 42%
Iowa: Bush 47%, Kerry 45%
Florida: Bush 49%, Kerry 46%
While Zogby shows Kerry up 10 in Michigan, the Detroit Free Press has Bush up 5 (47% to 42%) there. Michigan has long been considered a sure Kerry state and a must-win for a Kerry victory. If Bush were to steal this state it would definitely be curtains for Kerry.
Jim Geraghty at Kerry Spot notes Zogby's comments in the last two days about Bush's surge in national polling:
Saturday:
Pollster John Zogby: "Bush had a stronger single day of polling, leading Kerry 49% to 46%. For the first time, in the one-day sample Bush had a positive re-elect, 49% to the 48% who feel it's time for someone new. Also in the one-day sample, Undecideds were only 4%. Could Undecideds be breaking for Bush?
Sunday:
Pollster John Zogby: “Another good single day of polling for President Bush. In today’s sample alone, he leads 50% to 43%—the first time we’ve seen either candidate hit 50%. Each candidate continues to tighten his own constituency, and Undecided voters are now at only 4%
Meanwhile...John Kerry got some more ringing endorsements over the weekend.
Here's Cher:
"All the gay guys, all my friends, all my gay friends, you guys you have got to vote, alright? Because it would only be a matter of time before you guys would be so screwed, I cannot tell you. Because, you know, the people, like, in the very right wing of this party, of these Republicans, the very very right wing, the Jerry Falwell element, if they get any more power, you guys are going to be living in some state by yourselves. So, I hate scare tactics, but I really believe that that's true."
Now Slim Shady himself, Eminem:
"Bush is definitely not my homie, but I’m still undecided. Kerry has been known to say some things that’s caught my attention, made a few statements I’ve liked, but I don’t know. Whatever my decision is, I would like to see Bush out of office. I don’t wanna see my little brother get drafted. He just turned eighteen. I don’t want to see him lose his life. People think their votes don’t count, but people need to get out and vote. Every motherf**kin’ vote counts."
And lastly, Rosie:
"The best part to me in the entire debate was when John Kerry said we have to pass a global test before we enter into a war. And you see George Bush got all nervous because frankly the word 'test' terrifies him. He never passed one at Harvard or Yale, but whatever. But there is a global test. It's the global test of decency, of humanity, of integrity. That's what our country stands for as we lead the free world. Let's take back our country. Let's elect John Kerry."
I leave it to James Lileks to sum this up best:
"I’m not tired of actors speaking out; I will never tire of actors speaking out, because it provides the same amusement of watching dogs walk on their hind legs. The sight itself is hilarious, and it always ends with the performer falling over."

Be very afraid. Mrs. John Edwards, attorney, is warning of riots unless Kerry/Edwards wins. Guess it's time to clean the guns.
Thanks for the tip VA. Posted it with a hat tip to you. Teresa Heinz Kerry and Elizabeth Edwards are the Thelma and Louise of the campaign. They're due to drive off that cliff together on Nov. 2.
