Garofalobotomy

Janeane Garofalo recently on MSNBC, commenting on Republicans in Congress holding up ink stained fingers to show support for Iraqis during the State of the Union speech:

The inked fingers and the position of them, which is gonna be a 'Daily Show' photo already, of them signaling in this manner [does the Nazi salute], as if they have solidarity with the Iraqis who braved physical threats against their lives to vote as if somehow these inked-fingered Republicans have something to do with that.

Uh, well, the guy up there giving the speech had a thing or two to do with it. And what did you have to do with it? Other than to wave your pom-poms for those who made the "threats against their lives"? And let's give the Nazi thing a rest, please. Explain to me again how killing fascists and arresting dictators is Nazi-esque? Can't you people come up with something better than that by now? I offer you "Cossacks". At least it's different.

And also, the bit of theater about the very distraught parents of the soldier who had died, the point is not if this was a real moment, if it was staged, if it was PR. The point is, is those parents and their son were misled about why that young man went into Iraq. And when he wrote a letter to his mother saying, 'It's my job to protect you now,' protect her from what? The imminent threat of Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction?

Theater? This isn't a movie, sweetheart. If you're looking for that, pop in that special anniversary edition dvd of "Personal Best" that I'm sure you have sitting on your shelf. Since the probability of you conceiving a child is equal to Michael Jackson becoming a Scoutmaster, I wouldn't expect you to understand the grief of a parent losing their child. Protect her from what, you say? Find a clairvoyant (I'm sure you probably hang out with one) to ask the 3000 or so who got up and went to work at the World Trade Center a few years back and maybe they'll give you a hint.

So don't bring up, 'Is it helpful if the Democrats make some noise' when they're being lied to. That's not helpful, that's not helpful to pundits like you maybe, but it is not helpful to the country when a Republican President and his partisan Republican Party continue to perpetuate myth and dishonesty on the country.

You guys have had a few years now to give us that "lie"...still waiting. You know what's not helpful? This:

I was going to ask, "Who is Janeane Garofalo?" but now I don't care. What a doofus.

Hey! I can rant incoherently. I can make up stuff that sounds dissent-ish. I can state my opinion as pure, undisputeable fact so that if you argue or disagree with me in anyway it just proves you're one-of-them. Can I go on TV, too? Really, I can do this. All that's required is anger because anger=sincerity=truth. Right? Let me find my dark-rimmed glasses first and I'll be right with you...

Sorry, biker of the dirt. That only works if you are on the "right" side of the issues, meaning the "left".
"Left is Right, Slavery is Freedom. . . ."
HMMMM! How Orwellian.

VA, consider your ignorance with regard to Ms. Garofalo to be bliss. DB, once again you've crystalized all of our angst regarding those of the dark-rimmed variety. Stewdog, you're a prince among thieves, a thief among men, and a wretch among princes.

From The Progressive: Janeane Garofalo is first and foremost a comedian. ... she has acted in numerous movies

Good grief. Why does anyone care what she thinks (and I use the word "thinks" loosely)?

I feel for you left coasters. Out this way, we've got REAL PEOPLE to tell us how horrible we are -- people like Ted "hiccup" Kennedy, Robert "KKK" Byrd, and Hillary "Clinton" Rodham.
