Interesting straw poll

Who the heck is George Allen? My question is only a slight exaggeration.

Hey! George Allen was our governor -- and a good one, too -- and is our Senator. He unseated Chuckie Robb. Have some respect.

Um, but he is a little wobbly on stem cell research.

George Allen is good man but unfortunately he's too vanilla to ascend to the presidency. Even though I disagree with Rudy on a slew of social issues, he has the charisma and character to lead our nation strongly and continue our long fight against terror.

Interesting ommission in that straw poll -- Where was Condi? I still like her a lot and think she's an emerging superstar in the Republican party.

C.I.V., Allen sounds like a good man, but I'm just surprised that he has so quickly become one of the most talked-about potential candidates.

Wonderdog, I like Condi, too, but I don't see how there's any way she could try for President on her first attempt at elected office. I'm pulling for Vice President.

And I'm pretty much with you on Rudy.

Rudy is wrong on abortion and he had that awful affair and messy divorce. He'll lose the Christian right.

Allen is in the news because as head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee he succeeded in getting more Republicans elected to the Senate. (Liddy Dole now heads that committee.)

I am annoyed at his wishy-washy, try to have it both ways stance on stem cell research, but he is WAY better than our other Republican senator, John Warner.

The person that worries me most is the other Warner, our present democrat governor. Mark hasn't done squat (except to annoy people), but the local liberal papers fawn all over him.
