HARRIET WE HARDLY KNEW YE
Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination for SCOTUS today. A Bush misstep that will be forgotten in weeks. It will be interesting to see who will be nominated in her stead.
I love the criticism from the left leaning senators, none of whom would have voted for her if the nomination had ever reached that point.

I've been against the nomination from the beginning, for a number of reasons, chief of which was that I thought conservatives deserved a nominee with impeccable qualifications and a clearly defined judicial philosophy. If that means a fight, so be it. Let Ruth Bader Ginsburg be the rallying cry.
I think the debate within the conservative movement over the nomination -- Hugh Hewitt's somewhat overheated accusations of "Borking" notwithstanding -- has been civil and even "healthy." That said, I feel sorry for Miers, as I'm sure she's a good person and a very fine lawyer. It *was* sort of unfair the way she was put in this position.
I went from Wait and See to See You Later.
Bring on Janice Rogers Brown and another High Tech Lynching.
Woohoo! Let's rumble!
