Don't keep the day job. . .Please?
The front page Calendar story in today's Times is a fawning article about BabsII's new novel, A Time To Run. Actually, the article is more about the party thrown for her by the Westside Hollywood elite, than the book itself. The Novel is about a corageous liberal senator who takes on a conservative judicial nominee. Yawn.

Recently it has gotten rather easy to be called "courageous," perhaps because the neo-courageous apply the label to themselves. I understand that all you need to do is "dissent" in some fashion from conservatism. So St. Cindy is courageous, as is Kedwards, Babs I and II, McCain, Hillary, et al.
Ugh. It's enough to make you want to come up with a new word for the OLD definition of courageous.
Good point, C.I.V. I will say, though, that the old meaning of courageous at least applies to McCain in contexts other than politics.
Oops. Well, of course McCain is a war hero. But the libs seem only to praise him as a "maverick," meaning he is courageous in dissenting from his fellow Republicans.
