This Christmas, raise a glass of eggnog to the great teachers of your past: the tough ones, the bright ones, the brave ones, the ones who paid dearly for the wisdom they imparted to you, the ones who still respond warmly to your e-mails, even after 16 years--even after you were foolishly lured away from them by other, lesser pursuits--and the ones who still remind you, without even trying, that you really do have so much more to learn.
