Have you ever noticed ...
... that the Matthew Broderick character in Ladyhawke serves the same funtion in that movie as the hobbits do in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings? He mediates between the deeper and higher things of medieval culture and the modern creature-comfort-oriented sensibility of the moviegoer. Within the story itself, he also mediates between Isabeau and Navarre.
