Solomon Amendment Upheld
Although I personally disagree with the Pentagon's policy of "Don't Ask. . Don't Tell (Don't Dance Too Well?), I was pleased to see the Solomon Amendment upheld. In this case, law schools challenged the law that required them to give equal access to military recruiters on campus in the face of their opposition to the anti gay policy.
I suspect that there is a major anti military bias in many of our law schools and that even if this policy was changed, many would continue in their efforts to thwart military recruiters. So score this U.S. Military 1. . academia 0.

It's good to know we will soon have military recruiters on campuses. After all, we already allow the Taliban at Yale.
Thanks for the link, CIV. Our Ivy league schools are just nuts. I remember as a young man how I was in awe of the names Harvand, Dartmouth, Brown, Yale, etc. "Awe" has been replaced by "Aw. . what next?"
I hope it's better at the tech schools. My rugrat is aiming for CalTech or MIT.
Ethnomathematics aside, I'm hoping leftwing politics haven't invaded engineering and comp sci.
They have. I remember reading some article about PC trying to be jammed into math. Er. .sorry. . I don't think that works.
Go with Cal Tech if you can swing it. The weather is better and you have an excuse to go to CA every now and then. Besides, they don't have Chomsky out here.
Hey, C.I.V. -- good luck to your rugrat. I say Cal Tech is better, too!
And I don't think PC has really invaded comp sci and engineering at that level, has it? If so, God help us all.
Thanks, KM, but we still have a few years ahead of us. Rugrat is only a freshman. Maybe next summer we'll vacation in Pasadena or Cambridge.
SD, I forgot about Chomsky. Is CalTech left-wing nut free?
