Bush can turn it around tonight

Hugh Hewitt lays out a simple five-part mantra that Bush needs to set into motion with his Monday speech:

Win the war.
Confirm the judges.
Cut the taxes.
Control the spending.
Secure the border.

The White House would do well to listen to Hugh and to heed his words quite literally. Though Hugh is being intentionally pithy here, I truly believe that if this administration took it upon themselves to repeat this mantra every night in front of MSM cameras, not only would Republicans not lose the House and Senate but would make significant gains come the fall elections.

Ah, clarity. Ah, bold strokes. America craves it. It always has.

I could get excited about this plan, but they'd have to back it up with action. It won't do to send some troops to the border "temporarily" and take 'em away when everyone loses interest. Just as "temporary" tax cuts and one good budget won't cut it. I'd also like to see a more aggressive attack on "insurgents" and swift military trials for all terrorists -- no more of these Moussaoui trial circuses.

Agreed, CIV.

I didn't get to see the speech tonight (working late); did it do justice to the mantra at all?

Crud. I missed the speech. I remembered it about 10 minutes after it was over. When you get to be an old dog, WD, you'll learn you need to write everything down and/or set alarms. The trick is to not lose the list and forget what the alarms are for. I've pretty much downloaded my brain to a Palm, but forgot to add the speech.
