"Come To The Other Side Carol Ann"

No, it isn't a remake of Poltergeist, but Representative William Jefferson (God. . how my fingers want to type 'Clinton' after that) says that "there is another side to the story" about his 'frozen assets'. I, for one, can't wait to hear it.
Meanwhile, I read that San Fran Nan AND Dennis Hastert were making comments that supported Jefferson's claim that the search of his Congressional offices by the FBI violates Separation Of Powers. OK, that's one for the courts. Would Congress have the FBI ignore their shenanigans? I guess they think that after the Capitol Hill guards recover from their slappings at the hands of certain other representatives, that they can do all the investigations.

I don't understand this separation of powers silliness. Congress legislates, it doesn't enforce the law. Enforcement of the law is left to the Executive branch. Hence, any search of a Congressional premises by the FBI (a part of the executive branch) is perfectly within the doctrine of separation of powers. Are we to presume that Congressional members are above
investigation by police entities?

This silly argument is meant to distract from Jefferson's criminal conduct. It's a red herring.

But the sad part is that Dennis Hastert, a Republican, is pushing this argument.
Are congressmen allowed to use their offices as sanctuaries, free from the FBI? Or does the FBI have the right to search those offices as part of a criminal probe? I assume that a judge issued the warrant. I'm sure it will be litigated on appeal when Jefferson's lawyers attempt to "Free Willy".
