The canaries in the coal mines ...

Are we going to avert our gaze?
UPDATE: More from Amir Taheri.
UPDATE II: Eugene Volokh links to the disturbing report, but wonders about its reliability. I hope it's a hoax.
UPDATE III: Iranian legislators are denying reports about a dress code for religious minorities.

"It would make religious minorities immediately identifiable and allow Muslims to avoid contact with non-Muslims."
Oh sure...that is exactly why the Germans had the Jews wear the yellow Stars back in the 30's....so they coud AVOID them....sure.... what a crock!..
TP, I agree that the report is very disturbing. I just hope it's not true -- not that there aren't plenty of other reasons to be very disturbed by what's going on in Iran, though.
If the updated story is true -- that the new law will only require women to be covered up -- Iran is going to have some trouble on their hands. I've seen photos of Iran and many young people dress in Western clothing. They are not going to be very happy about covering up. Would that the women (and the men who love them) revolt and throw the bums out. The Gucci Revolution.
We'll send Paris Hilton to lead the opposition. "And a blonde shall lead them".
