I would think that the "bakers' pound" would be 17 ounces. But then again, math was never my strong suit. At least the cake was excellent and made superb strawberry shortcake.
But..isn't a "Pound cake" ..more of a term for what type of cake it is?...not for how much it weighs?...I'm certainly no baking expert..but that would seem to make sense to me.
The origin of the name "Pound cake", comes from the original receipe, which called for a pound each of flour, sugar, butter, and eggs. I was merely jesting, TP.

Oh -- that's what you're talking about! Back home, we used to call that "four-pound cake."
