Catholics of the world, unite!
Gypsy Scholar Jeffery Hodges calls for a deep and persuasive apology from the New York Times:
A billion Catholics worldwide are doubtless angry at the Times for its strong suggestion that the Pope, whom Catholics consider the Vicar of Christ, has deliberately insulted Muslims and that he is now being disingenuous about his insult. Undoubtedly, Catholics will soon be marching in streets across the globe to protest the Times' "Pope-o-phobia." Let us hope that their injured feelings for their revered Pope does not lead them to commit regretable acts of violence, but if they do, then the Times must be held accountable for its role in this crisis.
The world listens carefully to the words of the New York Times. And it is tragic and dangerous when this paper sows pain, either deliberately or carelessly. The Times editors need to offer a deep and persuasive apology, demonstrating that words can also heal.

Thanks for the link. I wonder if I'll be getting death threats...

I'm waiting for these world headlines & stories:
"The recent remarks made by the NY Times on Pope Benedict XVI are threatening to ignite the entire Catholic world."
"We want a personal apology (from the NY Times). We feel that they have committed a grave error against us and that this mistake will only be removed through a personal apology."
"The NYT's statements stem from complete ignorance regarding all that is related to Catholicism."
"These are ignorant comments previously made by Adolf Hitler"
"The NYT’s comments may lead to war"
Flash forward 10 years. . .Swarms of Catholics, dressed in their white first communion outfits, begin flying jetliners into mosques and beheading non believers. They start with the Islamists, but quickly move on to mainstream protestants, and other minor infidels. The Pope rules the world with an iron fist! Film at 11.
First communion outfits? Gee, SD, haven't you gotten a little taller since you were seven? How about their Confirmation outfits?
And wouldn't we crucify, rather than behead? I mean, beheading is so foreign. Well, except for the French, but that was a while back.
I almost forgot the torture part. How about really loud organ music? Meanwhile the Catholics are chanting and saying rosary beads.
