Re election results and KM's melodrama

I'm strangely serene. I almost feel giddy. I kinda feel like the Gene Hackman character in the original Poseidon Adventure. I'm sick of Borgnine's bitching and moaning and I've leaped to the dangling steam release valve. Take it away, Pelosi...I'm done. Here's your path to freedom...do with it what you will. I'm gonna let go now and drop into the fiery water. Yes, it is strangely serene.

Okay, enough melodrama. Here's my take on yesterday's results: The Dems had a bit of a hissy fit ( "We're gonna scream and kick cuz we hate George Bush!") and the Reps were uninspired due to their party's big spending, immigration impotence, weird scandals, and lack of resolve to defend the war on terror. Hence, Dems went to the polls and Reps didn't. This is not some kind of liberal revolution but rather a failure of the Republican party to stand firm on conservative principles. This was not an electorate rejection of conservatism; this was an electorate rejection of liberal tendencies within this administration. This was not liberal activism; this was conservative apathy.

Here are the positives: Pelosi as Speaker will clang the death knell for Hillary in 2008. America will have had its fill of a big spending, liberal, "powerful woman" after two years. She'll be a bad taste to the palate which curbs the appetite for the Hillary final course. Also, having Democrats in power will once again remind the American people that this is a party that cannot lead because they have no ideas or solutions. America will be reminded that this is a party which does better as a heckler rather than one who is in the spotlight.

In two years we will trow da bums out. It's a cleansing process. It's a reminder. It's all good.

Back to melodrama: How do I see the Republicans today?

We are Rudy quitting the team and walking out of practice.
We are Rocky hearing the call of Mickey to "stay down!"
We are Roy Hobbs down 0-2 wth blood spots on our jersey.
We are Dave Stoller before his final lap in the Little 500.
We are Pedro before Napoleon's dance.

We are Superman...and our cape just got tugged on...

Naw. .it was just predictable business as ususal. Didn't Roosevelt lose about 50 seats after Pearl? Americans don't like war and this was just a perfect little storm for change. This version of Repub 1.0 got a little stale. . Let San Fran Nan strut her stuff. The comparison will be wonderful. .and we will see more of that other Mammoth Giant of a Man, Harry Reid, flexing his muscles.
I do weep for the economy. It got lost in the shuffle and a lot of do gooder policies will clearly be undermining it in the future.
