Phone Company Woes

I will now vote for the Candidate who promises to dismantle MCI.

Last week, I was looking over my regular phone bill with AT&T. Although we use our cell phones for almost everything, we still maintain a land line for back up, annoying calls, to prevent giving out the cell, and for faxes. I realized that we have been paying 6 bucks a month for call waiting since who knows when, so I called and cancelled it. That went fine and my candidate can leave AT&T alone.

Well, MCI, who is our Long Distance Carrier on our land line, must have gotten wind of this, because within a week, they sent me a post card advising that there will be a minimum charge of. . . you guessed it. . 6 bucks a month. Since we only use the long distance service for out of town faxes, we agreed to just cancel it. That's when the fun began. I called. . pushed all the buttons. . didn't have my bill handy so I didn't know my account number. . and was told that due to a "high volume of calls" my wait would be 30 minutes. Um. . I don't THINK SO. So I went on line. We'll you must go to the account manager and you must have a PIN to do that which takes at least 10 days for them to mail it to you. So today I called again, armed with my Account number. I pushed the buttons, gave the computer my account number, and was told. . you guessed it. . "due to the high volume of calls your wait time will be approximately 30 minutes."

Does Kafka work for MCI??????

The CIV household dumped regular long distance ages ago. We use OneSuite -- 2.5 cents/minute.

Oh, and I agree with you about MCI. They were giving us the ol' screwjob at one point.
