The Office Of The WHAT????

This post is brought to you by my 93 and 1/2 year old father, who called to point out the sign at the podium at Obama's recent press conference. . . "The Office Of The President-Elect".

The WHAT????? By what Constitutional authority is this "Office" established? What are its powers and limitations?

This man had enough trouble keeping his ego in check during the campaign. . .I think all bets are now off.

Since when has Obama shown respect for the Constitution?

He takes it about as seriously as Richard Dawkins takes the Old Testament.

I think his goal is to redefine the office of the President - it would certainly appear so. He better continue to exercise the verbal care he enunciated at the press conference, though - George W. Bush still is President of the United States.

The socialistic illuminati who paved the way for him through questionable practices have worked hard to get him there - and they'll make sure he gets all kinds of history-making levels of power in return.

The Office of The President Elect The Presidential Transition Act of 1963. It is an officially recognized government office with appropriate legal foundation.

Maybe it is someone else who needs to brush-up on his knowledge of the law?

If you would like to read more about the Presidental Transition Act of 1963 - and apparently you do - you can do so here.

As for never having respected the constitution... Obama was a constitutional law professor at The University of Chicago. Apparently some people thought he had enough respect for the constitution to allow him to teach many of our finest law students about it.

Why thank you for joining in, Mr or Ms. A. I'm fully aware that the US Government funds the transition of power, and I read your link and I fail to see wherein the VP Elect is an "OFFICE" in the governmental sense.
I did not state that Obama has "Never respected the Constitution". My point is that this is just evidence of his overblown ego. I can't recall any past president elect acting in such a self important manner, even the Evil W.
Con Law Perfesser! Wow.. thanks for telling me.. I never would have known. I remember mine. . he was interesting. . but like many who take that job, he was a flaming liberal.

You're welcome Stewdog and thank you for having me. So I have to admit, I thought the sign on the podium was a bit much. But I don't think its fair to judge the guy's ego by the stupid sign on his podium.

Is it an "Office" or is it not? I guess I'm not really sure what that means. But if there is a federal law that authorizes money to the president-elect for office space, staff, furniture, and a congressional statute to fund it - it sounds like an office to me.

I'm sure you knew that Obama was a constitutional law professor. But reagan, after your original post, made the comment that B.O. has never shown respect for The Constitution. I think teaching Con Law to students suggests some level of respect. I haven't even heard the talking heads on Fox or the hologram people on CNN suggest that Obama disrepsects the Constitution. Where did that come from? My comments were intended as a response to that.

Someone else suggested that if McCain had one, the podium would have read, "Office of the Maverick-Elect."
