Tinkers to Evers to Chance...to Rather?
It now looks like Burkett to Mapes to Lockhart may give the famed 6-4-3 combination of Tinkers to Evers to Chance a run for their money in notoriety. Hugh Hewitt has the most comprehensive roundup of the escalating RAthERGATE scandal which is now showing a link to the Kerry campaign. It's beginning to look really messy for the Dems and Kerry. We now have the producer of the CBS Evening News, Mary Mapes contacting Joe Lockhart, a top Kerry aide, about the phony Burkett documents prior to airing them on 60 Minutes with Dan "I'm Sorry" Rather. Lockhart then phones Burkett, after being given his phone number by Mapes, and they discuss the campaign but the documents that are supposedly going to blow the lid off the Bush campaign is never discussed? C'mon Joey...C'mon buddy...fess up...Hey! It's time for a Movie quote!...
I think we need to send Michael Corleone to have a little "chat" with Joey Lockhart:

Meanwhile, Burkett reveals the source of the phony documents he planted. It's a purported "Lucy Ramirez" (sure, blame it on the imaginary Latina! Where's MECHA when you need them?). Now, nobody has a clue as to who this Lucy Ramirez is and no one is able to track her down.
Burkett goes on to say (God I love this one):
"I didn't forge anything. I didn't fake any documents. The only thing I've done here is to transfer documents from people I thought were real to people I thought were real. And that has been the limitation of my role. I may have been a patsy."
There you have it! I'm just a patsy!! Bring on the grassy knoll! Bring on the Magic Microsoft Word Font! Beware the fate of the "patsy", Mr. Burkett. Best to stay out of basement garages for a while.
What a bunch of nut cases. Okay America, can we get back to reality now and let our president carry on with the serious business of fighting a global war on terror and defending our very freedom and civilization?
