Old Rockers

Even though I now gravitate more toward classical music, I still love a lot of rock groups. When I go to a music store, I tend to buy CD's that replace old albums that I had. But rock is a youthful music to be played by the young. That struck me recently while watching a public TV show that featured OLD rockers playing songs of the 60's. Now Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, et. al had the good sense to die young so we will remember them as young, but there is nothing sadder than seeing these old farts, pumped up on viagra and geritol, playing their hits. The guy from Three Dog Night was particulrly frightening. I used to love Eric Burton and the Animals (House of the Rising Sun), but he came out weighing 5 times himself with this huge Che shirt and was just flat out scary.
Plese, just leave us with our memories. It won't be long until Keith Richards and Mick Jagger roll out on the stage in their walkers, buttressed by extra absorbant pampers and crank it up with Start Me Up.
