All that glitters

Ho-hum. Yet another study finds academia is disproportionately liberal.

You would think that if our universities were as concerned about "diversity" as they pretend to be, they would try to do something about this. However, I think we all know that "diversity" at the university level is not about diversity of opinion or ideology, but rather a fool's gold diversity of color. For, you see, it's not about how people think but about how they look. It's not the content of one's character that defines a person but rather the color of their skin. It's the worst kind of bigotry. It's the kind of bigotry that says, "you're different -- just look in the mirror"; rather than the kind of understanding that says, "you're different -- just look in your soul." It's also the hypocrisy of a faculty that would sit smugly in the balcony, convinced of its spurious elitist achievement of diversity represented by the many colors of its marching regiments of students, ignoring completely the fact that all of them are in lock-step and shouting, "Bush is a fascist!"

The bigotry and hypocrisy of academia is silent, manipulative, and lethal. It veils its repressive, discriminatory, drab society with its outward display of glittering colors. Yet, scratch the surface just a bit and one finds that all that glitters is not...well, you know the rest.

as people become more educated, they tend to become more liberal

Then I must be getting dumber every day. I should sue my alma mater and every writer I've read and anybody who's ever taught me anything, because I am definitely not getting more liberal.
