Scanning The News

First off, a sad note. Actor Lane Smith passed away. The Times credits his big role as Nixon in The Final Days, but I will always fondly remember him for two other roles. He was great as Perry White in the TV Superman Show, Lois and Clark. But he was fantastic as the prosecuter in My Cousin Vinny, done in by the wonderful Marisa Tomei, and her explanation of the "puawzitraction" on the Skylark.

My Two Jacksons: Out here in Laker land, the news is All Phil after being All Michael. Please. I wish you would BOTH just go away.

I was put off by the actions of some of the Santa Monica Jr. College Perfessers. I can understand students and their families misbehaving (click on the Aanold photo at this link) at a graduation, but the Governor was an invited guest at the commencement and turning your back on him during his speech is childlike and shows a lack of manners. Come to think of it, a lack of manners and civility seem to be the hallmarks of the left these days.

Finally, my outrage of the day is found on the box scores of MLB in the LA Times. To advertise for the new Batman movie, they superimposed a dark grey image of a bat, interfering with one's ability to read the box scores. Some things are sacrosanct. Who Goofed, I've got to know?

Remember when major league baseball was toying with the idea of spider webs on the bases to promote the Spider Man film?? Talk about sacrilege!

I do remember that. It went away quickly. It won't be long until MLB uniforms look like those of NASCAR drivers.

Yep. . Click on the link and the photo of the Governator that comes up. You will see the fine perfessers showing him who is boss.
I can forgive students, because their brains haven't quite hardened, but it is simply inexcusable behavior for the faculty to act with such disrespect.
