A dose of Ignatius J. Reilly

Ha! Did you know that there's a statue of Ignatius on Canal Street in New Orleans?

I only learned about this yesterday. I wonder if it survived Katrina?

Hey, I didn't know that about the statue! I hope it survived Katrina.

Your quotation has prompted me to reread "A Confederacy of Dunces," and, indirectly, to clean out the garage. We moved to a new place last November, and we still have a bunch of boxes of books in the garage. I'm going to go out there tomorrow and look for the book. Wish me luck.

"A Confederation Of Dunces"?
That would describe Film Actors Guild (FAG) from Team America World Police.
I'm not familiar with the book, but it sounds like one to put in the rotation (or 'queue', as everyone who got sick of saying 'patina' would say").
And Kate, your book search may have to wait till Monday, as you are on cookie and pie duty.

Stewdog -- A Confederacy of Dunces is a funny and sometimes obscene novel about an enormous lunatic in New Orleans who sits around the house writing overblown manifestos about how civilization has decayed since the Middle Ages. His world is turned upside-down when his whiny, drunken mother forces him to get out of the house and get a job. I'm re-reading it for the first time in around 15 years, and it's still a hoot.

So Dunces is about the first blogger, but he doesn't have a computer. Is he a pajama wearer?

There is actually a rather vivid description of the "hero" in his pajamas in the second chapter, yes. :)
