Devil's Advocates
Here's another fine "devil's advocate" argument against same-sex marriage from Belle Waring. It sounds some of the same themes as this widely-read post at Asymmetrical Information.

There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come. That time has not arrived for gay marriage, but it will someday and soon, and it won't be the end of the world as many think it is.
I personally have no problem with it. At the end of the day, what does it matter if the guy at the florist goes home to his male spouse, or his mail housmate. There are bigger problems to contemplate than this one. I think I have incorporated all the arguments. If it is sinful, then that is between them and god. If marriage is for procration, than we should repeal the marriage licenses of the childless. Gay Civil Rights will not go away.
Whoa. I don't know who Noah Millman is, but he has a way with words that puts me in awe. I'm totally convinced, and by arguments that I never considered and could never repeat with the grace they deserve.
