Powerful Catholics or the power of Catholicism?
Here's a very interesting article by Joseph Bottum in the Weekly Standard about the rise of Catholic intellectuals, and the flowering of an intellectually and philosophically rigorous Catholicism, in the post-Roe political landscape. The Catholic intellectual tradition is waaay older than 1973, of course, but Bottum suggests that the post-Roe moment in American history has required pro-lifers to articulate the philosophical underpinnings of their position and that Catholic intellectuals have gone prominently unto the breach.
