Why should I care?

Yes, I've seen the pirated Saddam execution video. It's barbaric and disturbing; and there's a part of me that feels some compassion and sympathy for him. I don't like to see a man go to the gallows and endure the horror of a noose placed around his neck, being prodded with shackled feet to stand upon a trap door. But there's also a part of me that reacts with cold dismissal.

If he'd only chosen to be a decent person and pursue a life of attempted love and kindness instead of killing thousands then perhaps he wouldn't have had to endure those steps and that trap door.

My three year old son has the flu and isn't eating. I worry about his nourishment and health.

Ultimately, I come to this conclusion: Let the dictators die...
