Who Says Romace Is Dead?

Not where the soon to be former Governor of New York is involved. He doesn't forget Valentine's Day:

As recently as this past Valentine's Day, Feb. 13, Spitzer, who officials say is identified in a federal complaint as "Client 9," arranged for a prostitute "Kristen" to meet him in Washington, D.C.

And showing that he is a gentleman:

Client 9 also is alleged to have paid for the woman's train tickets, cab fare, mini bar and room service, travel time and hotel.

Thank God he picked up the mini bar. I would have been terribly disappointed otherwise.

The saddest part of this sorry spectacle to me was having to watch his wife standing next to him during his statement about a "private matter."

What on earth possessed the poor woman to agree to that? I don't know, maybe she did it for her children.

I don't see how that would help the children. Nothing can help the children now. What an idiot he was and is. Wrecked his family, risked his wife's health, ruined his reputation, and damaged his children.

I don't really see it, either, CIV, but I'm just trying to figure out why she would stand up there with him. Some idea of showing unity for the children's sake seemed most plausible to me.

This is what they all do. Today's Washington Post has a story about the whole script politicians and their wives follow when scandal hits.

Still, nobody really knows why the wives cooperate. Perhaps she fears being left poor if her husband loses his job and/or goes to jail. Not what she needs when she has lost the foundation of her life and family. Or maybe she's still in shock and disbelief.

KM, I was shouting out the same sentiments when I saw them doing their thing. I think the Clintons should sue for plagerism. This is the script that they wrote and played so well, recently copied by the cheating mayor of Detroit. I'm sure the spin handlers got in there quickly and let her know that it is vital that she be there. Destroying him doesn't help her.
But not a great moment for the institution in Cambridge, MA, attended by our Kate Marie, to see two upstanding law school graduates up there like that. Let's all sing along "Stand By Your Man. . . "

He only paid for a regular train? Geez, he's willing to pay over 4 grand and he won't spring for the Acela? Cheapskate.
