More on the unreliability of exit polls
This from Polipundit:
According To Exit Polls Dole Lost To Bowles in 2002
I have written about this before, but it bears repeating. In 2002, Drudge posted exit polls showing Elizabeth Dole losing to Erskine Bowles in the NC Senate race. Pundits on television were all but saying she had lost, and would have been saying it if the polls had been closed. Instead, North Carolina political genius, John Hood, saved my sanity by posting at The Corner that the polls weren’t right and that Dole was doing well. Several hours later, it was announced that Elizabeth Dole was the new Senator from North Carolina, having beaten Bowles handily, and James Carville was sitting on CNN with a trashcan over his head.
