Rumpus Riddle Answer #3
Okay, so it was an easy one, but I thought it was fun. Everyone who submitted an answer was correct. Props to all!
A boy has a cat, a hen and a sack of seed on one side of a river that he needs to cross, but his boat can only hold him and one other item. He can't leave the cat with the hen or the hen with the seed.
How can he get himself and all of his things across the river?
The Answer: First he crosses the river with his hen and leaves it on the other side. He rows back and picks up the sack of seed and takes it across but he must pick up his hen and take it back across with him (so the hen won't eat the seed, of course.) He drops the hen off and takes his cat across and finally rows back to pick up his hen. All are finally safely across the river.
Now, isn't that a nice story?
