York v. Sargent
It looks like more of you who took our Rumpus poll are clueless than prefer Dick Sargent over Dick York as Darrin from Bewitched.
Bewitched ran from September 1964 to July 1972 with 254 episodes. According to TV Tome,
"Bewitched earned nearly two dozen emmy nominations during its run. Marion Lorne and Alice Pearce won well deserved awards, as did director Willam Asher. In 1970, Bewitched presented a Christmas episode regarding bigotry and racism, and received a special emmy award, The Governor’s Award, for the landmark episode (Sisters at Heart), not coincidentally, Elizabeth Montgomery's favorite episode. Beyond the themes of mixed marriage, adultry, and bigotry, Bewitched dealt with cultural issues concerning consumerism, materialism, human vanity, and mass hysteria, always within the shows fantasy concept. To the viewing public, Bewitched was more than just a tv show. Millions of children worldwide used the show as a spring board for imaginary games, creating their own "episodes" of magic and fantasy. For many adults, Bewitched will forever be known as the hysterical yet charming sitcom starring one of tv's all time great ensemble casts."

Nine per cent for Dick Sargent? That is an outrage. The only people who could have voted for him probably got confused by the ballot. They are probably those older New York Transplant Democrats in Florida who voted for Pat Buchannan in 2000. Was this a butterfly ballot? Were there hanging chads? This is an outrage. Who goofed? I've GOT to know!!!!!!!
Sergeant York? Terrific movie with Gary Cooper as America's great hero of WWI. Don't recall any witches, though.
